THE Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Yemi Oyeniyi, has expressed the Command’s determination to secure the safe release of the abducted Chairman of Sapele Local Government Chairman, Bright Abeke.
Speaking during a comprehensive operational visit to Sapele, following Abake’s abduction, Oyeniyi, who was in Sapele to personally assess critical locations connected to the crime, as part of a coordinated response to the incident, inspected Debro Fred Guest House, where the incident occurred, to obtain first-hand situational clarity.
He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle allegedly used in the operation was recovered.
Oyeniyi also visited Abeke’s wife, where he expressed empathy and assured the family that the Command was doing everything necessary to ensure his safe return, as well as the hospitals where some of injured victims were receiving treatment.
He said the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, had deployed adequate resources and was working on credible information to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victim unhurt.
While urging residents of Sapele and Delta State community to remain vigilant and cooperate with Police by providing credible and timely information, the Police chief stressed that public support remains vital to the success of ongoing operations.
He reassured the public of the Command’s
commitment to the protection of lives and property.
