Court Orders EFCC To Release Aisha Achimugu Within 24 Hours

A FEDERAL High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, April 30, ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release socialite and businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu, within 24 hours.
In his short ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo, also added parties in the suit, especially EFCC, to report to the court to give report on compliance to the order on May 2.
The Judge had on Monday, April 28, ordered Achimugu to submit herself to EFCC in connection with an ongoing investigation on money laundering and other offences.
Justice Ekwo held that following her appearance at its office, EFCC was to return with her and make an appearance before the court on Wednesday, April 30, for report.
The anti-graft agency picked up Achimugu about 5am on Tuesday, April 29, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
She is being probed on a case involving conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, money laundering, corruption and possession of properties reasonably suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.
