Bamiloye Supports Adeboye Over Insecurity Comment

*Suleman Blasts Daddy GO‘s Critics

GOSPEL filmmaker and Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, following criticism of his recent comments on insecurity in Nigeria.
The controversy started after a video resurfaced showing Adeboye urging the Federal Government to give security chiefs a 90-day deadline to end terrorism or step down from office, with some critics accusing Adeboye of supporting the government and discouraging planned protests against insecurity.
However, Bamiloye, in his reaction posted on Instagram on Wednesday, June 3, accused bloggers and critics of distorting Adeboye’s message.
He said the RCCG leader has consistently spoken against societal ills and should not be portrayed as indifferent to the country’s security challenges, noting: “Many bloggers saw this, but they would not project it. But he spoke against the evils.”
Bamiloye shut down suggestions that Adeboye should personally lead street protests against the government, arguing that such expectations were unrealistic, given the cleric’s age and ministerial responsibilities, adding: “And for all those who are expecting an 84-year-old man, servant of God, to lead a protest against a government, this does not make sense by virtue of his age and by the mandate of his calling.”
Regarding references to Adeboye’s participation in a protest march during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Bamiloye said the action was carried out in response to a directive from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), asking churches across the country to stage protests against the worsening insecurity at the time, and Adeboye simply led members of his denomination in compliance with that directive.
He stated: “And for all those who said he led a protest, it was the instruction of the CAN and PFN for every church to stage a protest against insecurity in the nation, and he complied and led his denomination too, just as some other churches did.”
The cleric maintained that the Church’s foremost responsibility remains to pray for peace, stability and divine intervention in the affairs of the nation, noting: “Our major responsibility, as the Church of God, is to continually pray for the peace of our nation and the intervention of God in the government.”
On his part, popular preacher and Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, criticised those attacking Adeboye over his perceived silence on the rising cases of kidnapping and terrorism in the country.
In a video shared on X while speaking to his congregation in Auchi, Edo State, Suleman also defended Adeboye, questioning why some Nigerians were targeting the RCCG leader over the country’s security challenges.
He said: “There are some people attacking Daddy G.O., Pastor Adeboye, claiming that he protested under former President Goodluck Jonathan, but is not protesting under President Bola Tinubu.
“He did not protest then; it was the PFN that directed pastors and preachers to embark on a prayer walk.
“Do you expect a man of 84 years to come out and protest? I am a son of Adeboye, and if he is not speaking out, I am speaking out too.”
