Published:

THE arraignment of a former Aviation minister, Hadi Sirika, and his brother, Ahmad Sirika, on a new charge of contract fraud involving N19.4billion could not proceed as planned due to their non-appearance in court.

During the court proceedings, Counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Oluwaleke Atolagbe, informed the presiding Judge, Suleiman Belgore, that the defendants had not yet received the charges in the case.

The prosecution has informed the court that both Hadi and Ahmad were currently not in Abuja.

The presiding Judge approved the request and adjourned the arraignment until Thursday, May 23.

The funds were said to be for several aviation ministry contracts from the former minister to Enginos Nigeria Limited, owned by his younger brother.
