ADC Tasks FG On Fuel Subsidy Removal, Naira Devaluation

Published:

THE African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed concern over increasing hardships on Nigerians over the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal and naira devaluation.

National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralphs Nwosu, said, in his keynote at the party’s 76th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, said that the government must work toward reducing the hardships being faced by Nigerians due to its policies.

Nwosu described nation building as a complex process that requires discerning minds, strategy and pooling together, saying the processes, systems and principles underlying Nigeria’s democracy and good governance had been bruised, and it behooved on all to begin a thorough reconstruction process without waiting till next election cycle.

He said President Bola Tinubu should not be blamed entirely, as the challenges facing the country had been brewing for many years, adding: “Some of us blame the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but I disagree. INEC staff members have suffered more fatalities in this democratic dispensation than ever before.

“In Kano State in 2019, an electoral umpire and the entire family were burnt alive for refusing to do the bidding of politicians.

“Elected government officials have waylaid INEC officials with thugs and guns. Not many of us stood up for them, the men and ladies of the judiciary, I will also exempt.

“Many of them enthusiastically watch us maneuver as mavericks to power and have seen their hopes dashed, because no sooner had the Nigerian politician got to office than the looting began.

“So, who do you trust, when you adjudicate between two thieves? This may appear to be a hash, but could be interrogated.

“The business elites and politicians in Nigeria are the culprits. Unfortunately, this includes all of us, either by acts of commission or omission. The opportunism in most of us is beyond reason.”

Nwosu called on party  members to be committed to the ‘ADC Global Campus Project,’ a vital institutional structure put in place to propel ADC’s legacy’s as a credible, forward and transformational party.
