Couple, Daughter Freed After N50m Ransom In Katsina

A COUPLE and their daughter, who were kidnapped last month in Katsina State have been freed after their family members had alleged paid a N50million ransom.
Anas Ahmadu, 33, was abducted along with his wife, Halimatu, and their little daughter, Jidda, on August 26, about 3am, at the Filin Canada Estate in Katsina metropolis and whisked away to unknown destination after the attackers had killed a local security operative during the operation.
The attackers also fatally shot one Abdullahi Muhammad, age 25, of the same address, a member of the local vigilante, and escaped the scene before the arrival of Police operatives.
The kidnappers thereafter contacted their family members, demanding a ransom of N600million.
The state Police Command, while confirming the incident, said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.
