Army Recruitment: After Decades, Delta Fills Quota Allocation

Published:

DELTA State, for the first time in the history of the Nigerian Army Regular Recruits Intake exercise, filled its quota allocation in the just-concluded 89th RRI recruitment screening exercise held at the Cenotaph Complex in Asaba, the state capital.
According to the Director General of Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, 100 out of the 200 successful recruits of Delta State origin from across the 25 local government areas arrived at the Nigerian Army Training Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Friday, June 27.
Oghenesivbe, who disclosed this in Asaba, said the second batch of 100 recruits are expected to depart Asaba next week for the Nigerian Army training facility in Osogbo, Osun State, under the supervision of Army Recruitment Officer, Lt-Col Daniel Appah.
While thanking the Chief of Army Administration, Maj-Gen. Lawrence Agha Fejokwu, for finding time to visit shortlisted candidates at the Cenotaph Complex during the screening exercise, said the visit boosted the morals of the recruits and helped to instill confidence and transparency in the process, assuring that the success recorded would be sustained.
Oghenesivbe attributed the feat to the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to ensuring that Delta filled its quota allocations by constituting the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into military and paramilitary services, and mandating the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, to oversee its overall activities and performance.
He commended the 89th RRI Recruitment Officer drafted to Delta State, Lt-Col. Daniel Appah, for doing an excellent job by ensuring that the best among equals emerged to fill the state’s quota allocation.
