THE Katsina State Police Command said it successfully foiled a kidnap attempt at Mazare village in Sabuwa Local Council and rescued four victims- three females and a baby girl.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu (DSP), said the incident occured on June 18, about 12:21 am, adding that two persons, Sa’idu Isa, 37, and Sa’idu Wa’alam, 61, were shot and injured during the incident.
He said a group of suspected bandits attacked the community and abducted the victims until information about the incident reached the Police station in the area and operatives acted promptly, leading to the rescue of the victims.
According to him: “Upon receipt og the information, the DPO quickly mobilised and led a team of Police operatives to the scene, where a gun battle ensued, leading to the successful rescue of all four kidnapped victims unharmed, as the assailants fled the scene due to superior firepower.
“The injured victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, where they are receiving and responding to treatment.
“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of suspects as the investigation proceeds.”
