NESREA Axes 35 Non-Compliant Facilities In Four States

THE National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (THE National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has shut down 25 more facilities in four states during enforcement compliance with environmental regulations.
The shut facilities in Anambra, Enugu, Bayelsa and Rivers states were slosed for various environmental crimes, including refusal to conduct Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before commencement of project, environmental audit and lack of functional effluent treatment plant, among others.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Director General of NESREA, Prof. Innocent Barikor, charged the operators to adhere to the provisions of environmental laws in their operations, saying they would continue to carry out such enforcement exercises to safeguard the environment and serve as deterant to facility operators.
The affected facilities are Rugal Pharmaceutical, Emene Industrial Layout, Enugu; China Communication Construction Company (CCCC), Owo Yard, Enugu; Planet Project Holy Ghost Central Park, Enugu; Planet Project Garriki Central Project, Enugu; Reinforce Global Construction Company Limited, Enugu-Abakaliki Fly-Over; Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, Okpara Avenue, Enugu; Tanit Medical Engineering Limited; Enugu International Hospital Project; Mil House Energy Services Limited, Awhum Village, Enugu State.
Others include Hardis and Dromedas, Umunya; Pinnatech Engi Asphalt Plant, Awkuzu; Fadon Bonded Terminal, Onitsha-Enugu Express Way; Merit Bonded Terminal, Nawfia; Zenith Shipping Company, Nawfia; Donclimax Bonded Terminals, Amawbia; Ikenga Shopping Mall, Nkpor; Reliable Steel and Plastic Limited, Onitsha; ILed Bonded Terminals, Oyi, all in Anambra State.
Others are China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Obogoro Road, Swali, Yenagoa; Megastar Technical and Construction Company Limited, Imiringi Road, Yenagoa; Azikel Dredging Company, Obogoro Raod, Swali, Yenagoa; and Monier Construction Company (MCC) Nigeria Limited, Igbogene, Yenagoa, all in Bayelsa State.
Also shut are Raycon and Company Nigeria Limited, Imiringi in Ogbia Local Council; Abili Integrated Services Limited, Imiringi, Ogbia Local Council of Bayelsa State; and Multi Plan Nigeria Limited, Okuru-Ama, Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
