Rivers Administrator Appoints New SSG, Head Of Service

THE Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has appointed Prof. Ibibia Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Similarly, Ibas named Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service as acting as the Head of Service, pending a substantive appointment, following the resignation of the substantive Head of Service, Mr. George Nwaeke.
In a statement in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Maech 25, the government recalled Worika’s distinguished career in the academia, international legal practice and high-level policy advisory roles, making him well-suited to support the administrator in achieving the mandate set by President Bola Tinubu for the state.
It said: “Worika’s wealth of experience in legal scholarship, public policy and governance will be instrumental in driving the administration’s agenda.
“His appointment underscores our dedication to excellence in public service.”
Ibas restated his commitment to utiliing the rich human capital of Rivers State to foster peace, stability and security.
Expressing gratitude to Nwaeke for his contributions during his tenure, the sole administrator wished him success in his future endeavours.
While congratulating Brown on her new role, Ibas reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Rivers State.
The government, in a statement issued by the Chief of Staff to the Sole Administrator, said Worikaa’s appointment, which took immediate effect, followed a rigorous selection process in which his extensive experience, academic credentials and policy expertise stood out.
Worika, from Ogu in Okrika, was until now the Director of the Centre for Advanced Law Research, Rivers State University.
He was Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Port Harcourt.
