*Gov To Implement S’Court Judgment, Urges Calm
*Outgoing LG Chairmen Handover To Heads Of Admin
THE Rivers State House of Assembly, on Monday, March 3, during a plenary session, presided over by the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, gave Governor Siminalayi Fubara 48 hours to present this year’s Appropriation Bill before it, in line with last Friday’s ruling of the Supreme Court.
At the session held at its temporary chamber at the Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt, followed Amaewhule notice for the session earlier in the day.
This is even as Fubara has expressed willingness to obey and implement the rulings of the apex court concerning the Assembly and the voided local government election held late last year.
He assured the people that he would implement the judgment without reservation. He warned that the state might be back to trying times after the ruling has handed victory to Wike, but urged calm in the state.
The governor directed the Heads of Local Government Administration to immediately take over the administration of the 23 local government councils, pending the conduct of fresh elections by RSIEC.
Fubara, in a statewide broadcast, said though he disagreed with the judgment, he was bound to obey the orders made, as he runs a law-abiding government, stressing that his administration would take necessary action on the judgment only after his legal team has received and analysed the implications.
