Akwa Ibom Tops, To Pay N80, 000 As Minimum Wage

AKWA Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has announced N80,000 as minimum wage for workers in the state’s civil service.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, and made available to journalists in Uyo, the state capital, on Wednesday, October 23, the governor had constituted a committee to ensure smooth implementation of the new minimum wage.

Ememobong said the committee has the Head of Service, Effiong Essien, as Chairman, with Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission; Chairman of Local Government Service Commission and 13 others as members, has one month to submit its report on how the wage increase would be executed.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had announced N70, 000 minimum wage for federal workers with effect from July after months of negotiations with labour unions.
