Former NDLEA Spokesman, Ofoyeju, Named Tincan Island Port Commander

THE Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), has approved the appointment of a former spokesman of the Agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju, as Commander in charge of Tincan Island Port Strategic Command in Lagos State.

     Ofoyeju, an astute officer with wealth of experience in media relations, drug law enforcement and drug demand reduction, had previously served in numerous committees, including on the special purpose committee and planning and organising committee for the 31st meeting of Heads of Drug Law Enforcement Agencies in Africa (HONLAF), hosted by Nigeria in Abuja last year.

     Before his appointment, he was the Agency’s reform champion with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) and focal person on the implementation of the presidential priorities and ministerial deliverables of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.

He was a various times principal staff officer; chairman, chief executive officer’s office; assistant director of planning, directorate of planning, research and statistics at the national headquarters.

     A Mass Communication graduate, Ofoyeju holds a Master’s degree in Marketing and is United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) master trainer on Drug Prevention, Treatment, and Care (DPTC), master trainer on Right-Based Border Management, facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and author of The Last Syndicate and A Dance Against Taboo, among others.

     Ofoyeju takes over from Commander Aminu Abubakar.
