Falana Denies Speaking With Bobrisky, Says Solicited For Fund From His Son

Published:

LAWYER and human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), has denied having any connection with alleged bribery of prison officials to drop money laundering charge against cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

Falana’s response was in reaction to allegations in a viral video by blogger, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), based on the voice notes of Bobrisky, suggesting that some unnamed officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly collected N15million from Bobrisky to drop money laundering charge against him and that Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10million.

However, speaking on a television programme, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria dismissed the accusations, saying: “Bobrisky never spoke to me. I have never met him. I do not know him from Adam. He was alleged to have spoken to my son, Folarin (Falz).”

Falana recalled that Bobrisky approached Folarin on May 4, requesting for N3million to be placed in a special part of the prison, adding: “My son asked him: ‘Are you calling me under the authorisation of the Superintendent of Prisons?’ He said: ‘No,’ and my son said: ‘Please, don’t call me again.”

Falana, who expressed frustration at what he called the spread of falsehoods over the video on social media platforms, described the allegations as “infantile radicalism.”
