Independence Anniversary: FG Declares October 1 Public Holiday

THE Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence day anniversary.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, September 28, in Abuja, by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion and commending their patient and hardworking, assuring that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The minister reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of the heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead.

While wishing Nigerians a happy celebration, the minister urged them to continue to be steadfast in nation-building.
