Bobrisky: NCoS Board Suspends Erring Correctional Service Officers

THE Board of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Federal Fire Service (FFS) has suspended some senior officers of NCoS.

A statement by the Secretary of the Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, on Thursday, September 26, in Abuja, said some of the affected officers were suspended following the viral video trending on social media on the alleged infractions of NCoS in relation to Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

The officers involved include Michael Anugwa, a Deputy-Controller of Corrections in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, and Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), in charge of Maximum Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State.

According to him, the Board has also suspended ASC II Ogbule Obinna, serving at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Afikpo, Ebonyi State, based on the allegation that he accompanied a convicted inmate out of the custodial centre to a location outside the facility.

In another related development, the Board also suspended  Iloafonsi Ikechukwu, a Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kuje- Abuja, for allegedly receiving monies on behalf of an inmate.

Ahmed stated that the suspension of the officers was to allow for further investigation on the various allegations against them, assuring that the outcome would be made public.
