THE Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Waheed Ayilara, is dead.
Ayilara, who had been battling health issues, died in the early hours of Thursday, August 29, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, shortly after prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday, August 28.
Ayilara, a former deputy commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on Panti Street, Yaba, Lagos, reportedly attended the wedding ceremony of the son of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and a senior colleague’s retirement and birthday ceremony, all in Lagos, recently, where he was in high spirits, betraying no signs of illness.
