PRESIDENT of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Joe Ajaero, On Thursday, August 29, arrived at the headquarters of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Abuja in company of his lawyers and some workers and members of the Congress.

Recall that the Police had last week invited Ajaero to the IRT headquarters on August 20 by 10 am to answer questions on his alleged involvement in terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy and treasonable felony.

However, Ajaero, who could not make it, promised to honour the invitation yesterday.

The Labour leader arrived at the IRT premises exactly 10:17 am alongside his lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), Marshal Abubakar, Deji Adeyanju and other senior NLC officials.

Although the Labour movement had mobilised its members to accompany Ajaero to the Police headquarters in solidarity, but Falana convinced the workers to stay behind at the Labour House to avoid a rowdy session at the IRT office, assuring them that the situation would be adequately handled with the lawyers from his chambers and others in the entourage.

As the team met with the Police, workers from different unions waited at the Labour House, with a detachment of Police officers keeping watch within the environs.

Ajaero, Falana and others later returned to Labour House after honouring the Police invitation.

Addressing the workers after his return, the labour leader expressed appreciation for their show of solidarity.
