*UAE Lifts Visa Ban On Nigerians, Says Minister
PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu would probably take a final decision on a new minimum wage on Thursday, July 18.
This indication was given by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Mohammed Idris, who said the President would be meeting with the organised Labour on that date before deciding on an amount that would be forwarded to the National Assembly for enactment.
Idris stated that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) deliberated on the national minimum wage and would invite the organised Labour for a meeting this week, adding that the President was not averse to increasing the national minimum wage, but was being careful so as not to plunge the country into an unimaginable inflationary trend.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has finalised an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to permit holders of Nigerian passports to acquire visas to visit any Arab nation.
Idris, who disclosed this during his update to State House Correspondents on Monday, July 15, after the regular FEC meeting, noted that with effect from July 15, Nigerians were eligible to receive visas to UAE.
He said the UAE has lifted the visa ban on Nigerians travelling to the country, noting: “You are aware that Nigeria has been discussing with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the issue of visa for Nigerian passport holders going to the UAE.
“Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today, July 15, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visa to go to the UAE.
“I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so.”
