Tinubu Removes Arase, Appoints Argungu As Police Service Commission Chairman

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has also approved the removal of Mr. Solomon Arase, a retired inspector general of Police, as chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and his place appointed Hasimu Argungu, a retired deputy inspector general of Police.

The President also appointed Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and a retired deputy inspector general of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, as a member of the Commission.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, who disclosed in a statement late on Monday, June 10, in Abuja, said the appointments were subject to confirmation by the Senate, while other members of the PSC would be appointed in due course.
    Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).

Ngelale said the appointments were with immediate effect, adding: “The President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these important functions for the overall wellbeing of the Nigeria Police and the nation.”
