Terrorists Kill 41 In Katsina

NO fewer than 41 persons, including women and children, have been killed following suspected terrorists attack on three communities in Bakori and Faskari Local Councils of Katsina State.

    The incidents, which sources said happened between 1a.m. and 2a.m. on Sunday, may 26, occurred at Unguwar Lamido and Unguwar Baro in Bakori, and at Gidan Kare in Faskari Local Councils.

    All three communities are said to be located few kilometers from each other, with the terrorists reported to have shot indiscriminately at residents and injured several people in the process. 

    The terrorists were said to have also looted several homes and set many houses ablaze, with properties worth hundreds of thousands of naira said to have been lost.

    It was gathered that some community members have been abducted by the terrorists, with a source putting their figure at more than a dozen. 

All the deceased victims were buried Sunday afternoon according to Islamic rites, while the injured were said to have been taken to hospital for treatment.

    Bakori and Faskari are among several council areas in the state facing security challenges due to terrorists, rustlers and kidnappers activities, especially in communities close to forest reserve areas, often used by terrorists to launch attacks or retreat after operation. 

      Hundreds of lives have been lost or injured in communities ravaged by marauding terrorists in recent years. 

     The lawmaker repressing Bakori State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Mr. Abdulrahman Ahmed, and executive Chairman of the Local Government, Mr. Ali Maicitta, confirmed the incidents, saying the terrorists killed 13 people in Lamido village and 12 others at Gidan Kare community, while 16 were killed at Unguwan Baro. 

     Maicitta, who attended the burial of the deceased, said security agents had been drafted to the scene, while the state government had been contacted.
