IPOB: No Sit-At-Home On October 4 In S’East

THE Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday, October 3 clarified that there will be no sit-at-home on Tuesday, October 4, as its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, would not be appearing in court on that day.

There had been apprehension that there would be a sit-at-home, as has become the case whenever Kanu appears in court.

But IPOB said contrary to the speculations that Kanu would appear in court for his continued trial in Abuja, it (IPOB) would actually be in court in Umuahia, Abia State, to challenge the alleged illegal abduction and extraordinary rendition of its leader from Kenya to Nigeria.

A statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, entitled, ‘No sit-at-home on Tuesday 4th of October 2022,’ stated that the Nigerian government must provide evidence to the world on how and why it allegedly kidnapped and repatriated Kanu to Nigeria at Umuahia High Court, advising residents of the Southeast to go about their usual businesses.

IPOB’s statement read: “Yes that day is his court date for IPOB, but our leader is not appearing in court on that day. Therefore, there will be no sit-at-home on that day.

“We want every Biafran both home and in the Diaspora to ignore such rumours, and anybody who is responsible for peddling that kind of falsehood should stop it immediately. IPOB leadership has not authorised such purported sit-at home order.

“IPOB is watching those with such mindsets who suffer our people. They will regret their actions soon. Anybody who contributes to the death of our people will pay dearly, whether he or she is security personnel, civilian, religious leader, man, woman, including the politicians who contribute in small or big measure to ensure that our people incur human and material losses. They will all pay dearly.”
