Bandits Kill 30 Farmers, Cleric In Zamfara Attacks

Published:

BANDITS struck again in Zamfara State, especially in farming communities, where they killed about 30 farmers, including an Islamic cleric, in Gidangoga village, Maradun Local Council and Bilbis village in Tsafe Local Council.

Sources told PRNigeria that the bandits first attacked Gidangoga village, as farmers were preparing their lands for the coming wet season.

An Islamic cleric, Mallam Makwashi Maradun Mai Jan Baki, was brutally killed while working on his farm, while his two children were missing after the attack.

Baki was known for reciting the Quran during Ramadan Tafsir at Maradun First Jumuat Mosque.

The marauding gunmen later struck in Bilbis village, where about 20 civilians dead were reported dead.

Local sources said the farmers were attacked while clearing their fields by the merciless bandits.

PRNigeria also gathered that a district head, Alhaji Murtala Ruwan Bado of Garbadu in Talata Marafa Emirate also narrowly escaped bandits attack in the evening along Mayananchi road.

The attacks have left communities in shock and grief, while the residents appealled to the authorities to take immediate action to ensure justice and protection of lives.

Zamfara has been prone to bandits attacks that have led to loss of lives and destruction of property, as well as kidnappings and demand of ransom from victims’ families.
