Lagos Monarch Warns Women To Stay Indoors Over Traditional Rite

Published:

THE traditional ruler of Ikorodu in Lagos State, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, has urged all female workers at Ikorodu General Hospital not to report for duty on May 16, this year, as the community’s traditional rite, known as Oro, holds on that day.

The monarch, in a letter, titled, ‘Notification Of Magbo (Oro) Festival 2024,’ and addressed to the management of the hospital, warning them to inform all their female workers of the development, said: “This is to notify you of the above festival, which is slated for Thursday, 16th May, 2024.

“According to tradition, all females are advised to remain in their respective homes and avoid moving around the town during the Oro Festival.

“Please note that your organisation is affected by falling within the Oro traditional jurisdictions. You are hereby advised to adhere with the tradition of the town.

“Your cooperation towards the success of the festival will be appreciated.”

Recall that several High Courts in the country had prohibited such directives.
