PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has described the late former minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Chief Onu, as a “luminous star” in Nigeria’s political firmament.
In his condolence message to the family on the death of the former first civilian governor of Abia State, who died on Thursday, April11, at the age of 72, the President, according to a statement signed by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, noted that Onu was a principal draughtsman in the founding of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a valiant partner in the victory of the party in the 2015 elections.
He also described Onu as an “accomplished scholar, first-class engineer, a man of proven integrity, defiant to indiscipline, but ever-yielding to the highest standards of rectitude, saying he epitomised Nigeria in concord and in wholeness, as he believed in and defended Nigeria’s unity, advocated peace and promoted fellowship across the Niger.
Tinubu commiserated with his friends and associates, the Ebonyi and Abia states governments, and all Nigerians grieving over the loss.
