THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially dismissed claims of holding parallel primary elections in Edo State ahead of the September 21 governorship election, insisting that only one primary election was conducted, resulting in Asue Ighodalo emerging as its candidate for the election in the state.

During the presentation ceremony of the Certificate of Return to Ighodalo at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, February 27, PDP’s acting National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, restated the party’s unity in Edo State, urging all aspirants to reconcile their differences and collaborate as a cohesive team to ensure victory of the party in the election.

He charged PDP supporters in the state and across Nigeria to remain focus on reclaiming the state for the party, while stressing the importance of concerted efforts to retain the state in the coming election.

Addressing concerns about challenges posed by other political parties, Damagun reassured party faithful of PDP’s distinct internal mechanisms that set it apart from other parties, urging them not to be swayed by external distractions.
