A FORMER president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Olumide Akpata, has emerged the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
Akpata polled 316 votes to defeat other aspirants at the party’s primary election held in Benin on Friday, February 23, while his closest rivals, Chief Kenneth Imansuangbon and Prof. Sunday Eromosele, scored seven votes, and Mr. Sergius Ogun, four votes.
Chief Returning Officer of the election and Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mr. Emechulu Ikecbukwu, shortly after declaring Akpata winner, said that the party represents truth, hardwork and transparency.
While commending the aspirants for showing the spirit of sportsmanship, he urged Akpata to carry everyone along.
