DELTA State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, has expressed the readiness of the state government to partner the media for accurate reporting of its activities, policies and programmes, charging journalists to always verify and balance their stories before publishing.

Osuoza, who gave the advice on Wednesday, February 21, when he received on courtesy visit, the executives and members of the Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), in Asaba, said his doors were open for journalists to clear their doubts and crosscheck any information about the government on any issue.

He explained that the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration is on track and has started on an impressive note, having already hit the ground with developmental projects, policies and programmes, expressing government readiness to partner the media to showcase its success stories, as it is committed to implementing policies and programmes, as contained in the M.O.R.E Agenda.

The commissioner said his ministry was ready to ensure that the state government projects, polices and programmes were not under-reported, saying journalists in the state would be  instrumental to achieving that set goals.

He said partnering the media, especially the Correspondents, would help to disseminate information regarding activities, programmes and projects of the administration, even as he called for factual and objective journalism.

Osuoza pledged to liaise with and make information from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the government available to the media.

Earlier, Chairman of the chapel, Mr. Ifeanyi Olannye, lauded Oborevwori for finding Osuoza, who he described as a perfect fit for the job, worthy of the appointment and called for partnership and collaboration with the ministry and government in the area of training of journalists.

He stated that with relevant training, journalists would be equipped with requisite knowledge to interpret and adequately communicate the government’s M.O.R.E Agenda to the people.

Olannye commiserated with the commissioner over the death of his father.
