*Mrs. Egbetokun Empowers 155 Vulnerable Women
DELTA State Governor, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended the wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, for working towards sustainable welfare of families of Police officers in the country.
Oborevwori made the commendation when he received Mrs. Egbetokun, who is the President of the Police Officers’ Wives’ Association (POWA) and her delegation on a visit to Government House, Asaba, commended her, urging other officers’ wives to emulate her.
The governor said Delta State was peaceful throughout the Yuletide because of the efforts of her husband and officers and men of the state Command, adding: “What you are doing since your husband became the IGP is worth emulating, because you have shown love not only to the Police officers’ wives, but also to those who served as Police officers but are gone.
“You have done very well and I commend you for your advocacy. I want to encourage you and other people in different offices, either at the federal or state level, to follow your footsteps. The love you have shown to Police officers’ wives and trying to empower them and do other things like job and wealth creation for them is something worth emulating.
“I want to say that we in Delta State are very happy with what you are doing. You have given them hope and even Police officers will be very happy that for the risk they take to serve and protect this nation, in terms of security, if anything happens tomorrow, their wives and children are also protected.”
Earlier, Mrs. Egbetokun said she was in the state on a familiarisation and advocacy visit and commended Oborevwori for his giant strides in the state.
She stated that Delta holds a special place in the nation for its significant contributions to the economic development of the country and pledged to collaborate with the government and people of the state for the empowerment of Police officer’s wives and their families.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, the POWA president later proceeded to Orchid Hotel, Asaba, for an empowerment of 155 vulnerable women, including wives of deceased Police officers, where stated that empowerment is not just a word, but a commitment to providing the necessary tools to enable beneficiaries to thrive in the face of challenges.
She acknowledge the immeasurable role the deceased officers, for which they deserve utmost appreciation.
