THE Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has confirmed that MTN and indigenous telecommunications operators, Globacom, have reached an agreement to resolve the interconnect debt issue between them.
According to NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka: “In granting the approval, the Commission was deeply conscious of the potential impacts of the decision on consumers and therefore continued to engage both parties to facilitate a resolution which prioritises and protects consumer interest and the seamless operation of the national telecoms network.”
With this, Glo subscribers would not be barred from making calls to MTN, neither would MTN subscribers have any issues calling Glo network.
The telecommunications industry regulator had last week, in a notice, stated that Glo was owing MTN interconnect charges, but Glo insisted it was not owing and had actually paid off the said debt.
