S’Court Ruling Should End Agitations On Enugu Guber, Says Nsukka Group

Published:

THE Nsukka Professionals Association (NPA) said the Supreme Court judgment affirming the election of Peter Mba as the Governor of Enugu State should draw the curtains on all agitations and protestations about last year’s governorship election in the state.

The association, therefore, urged all aggrieved contestants to prepare to try again in 2027, just as it charged the political class in the state to support Mba’s efforts to implement needed measures and policies to improve the living conditions of people and bring rapid and sustainable development in the state.

The association, in a statement by its

President, Mr. Charles Nwodo Jnr, formerly congratulated Mba on his victory at the apex court, wishing the governor a successful tenure.

It charged him to serve the people faithfully, diligently and without discrimination, while indicating its willingness to collaborate with the administration towards the rapid development of the state.

Nwodo asserted that the association would maintain with vigour and its role as promoter of good governance and electoral integrity and foremost defender of the common good.

The association also congratulated the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Mr. Chijioke Edoga, for the important achievement recorded by his party, especially his decision to resort to the court, rather than going to the street to seek redress.

It stated that Edoga should be proud of himself and his party for his contribution in raising civic awareness and deepening the political space in Enugu State and Nigeria, noting that valid and substantial misgivings and agitations about the outcome of last year’s general elections should be put to an end by the Supreme Court ruling.
