THE Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has charged contestants on its platform to promote the interests of all candidates in next year’s general elections.

The party also urged the candidates to intensify their preparations for the polls and maximise the limited time available by being proactive and committed to the campaign activities.

The state APC announced that it will begin its campaign for next year’s general elections in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Council, on Thursday, November 5, eventually end in Okpe Local Council at a date and venue yet to be decided.

Director General of the state campaign council, James Manager, disclosed this on Tuesday, October 27, during an interactive meeting with members of the council, directors, candidates, local government chairmen, party chairmen and local government campaign coordinators, in Asaba.

Manager urged them to promote the interests of all APC flag bearers, rather than concentrate exclusively on their individual ambitions, stressing that the party’s success would depend on their ability and their supporters to work together to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates in the elections.

“As a candidate, whatever you are doing, do it for Mr. President, the governor and the entire APC family,” Manager said.

He urged them to use their respective platforms, including social media, to publicise the party’s programmes and achievements, warning against distraction by the opposition.

Manager said the meeting was convened to address questions and concerns arising from the council’s inauguration and to enable party leaders exchange views with candidates and grassroots coordinators.

The former senator added that the gathering was part of a series of meetings to strengthen coordination and ensure the campaign structure functioned effectively at all levels.

He directed local government campaign committees to submit their membership lists by Wednesday, October 28, as the council needed to know the composition of the various committees to facilitate effective planning and coordination.

Manager stressed the importance of reaching every community and ward, urging local organisers to identify capable representatives who could mobilise support at the grassroots.

He said the campaign would require the active participation of party members across the state; hence candidates must take their responsibilities seriously and begin preparations without delay.

Earlier, state Chairman of the party, Solomon Arenyeka, said the meeting was an important step towards the commencement of campaign for the general elections.

Arenyeka acknowledged the council leadership’s efforts in putting the necessary structures in place, urging stakeholders to work together towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
