IN the latest edition of celebrity boxing, christened, ‘Chaos in the Ring,’ reality television star, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, knocked out actress, Nkechi Blessing, in their scheduled four-round contest to make history as the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.

In the male category, defending champion and skit maker, Carter Efe, defeated online influence, Speed Darlington, to retain the title, which he won by beating controversial Zazu musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.

Ghana’s Seth ‘Freezy Macbones’ Gyimah dethroned Godday ‘Zodsolo’ Appah in the main event.

Speaking after the fight, organised by Balmoral Promotions and held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, October 1, Phyna, a former Big Brother Naija winner, named Nollywood actress, Etinosa Idemudia, as her next target, accusing her of disturbing her through direct messages.

She said: “I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson.

“She’s been messing around in my DM, and thank God for ‘Chaos in the Ring.’

“Etinosa, her time is now overdue. I need to fuck her up.”

She accused Etinosa of repeatedly sending her messages, saying she was ready to settle the issue inside the ring.    Etinosa, who was among the ringside audience, accepted the challenge without hesitation, saying: “I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight.

    “I accept the challenge fully.”

Phyna, who also received N50million as winner of the bout, said she intends to pursue professional boxing, indicating her victory over Blessing could indeed mark the beginning of a career in the game.

In the second bout, Efe dominated Darlington throughout their four-round crossover contest, beating the musician, who had stopped moving, to win by technical knockout.

“After four rounds of action, we go through the Judges’ scorecard. Your winner, by unanimous decision, and still celebrity champion, is Carter Efe,” the organisers announced.    Efe previously defeated Portable on May 1, at the same venue, in the three-round bout by unanimous decision after all three Judges scored it 30-27 in his favour.

Appah lost his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship to Gyimah, who won by unanimous decision to dethrone the Nigerian champion.
