*Vows To Arrest Perpetrators

THE Anambra State Commissioner of Police (CP), Nnanna Oji Ama, has visited the family of late advertising personality, Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as Aiza, who was murdered in Awka, the state capital, on Sunday, August 31, by gunmen.
Nwosu’s body was found inside his Toyota Hilux vehicle, while another body was discovered on the street on Sunday night.
Following the incident, Ama held a two-hour closed-door strategic meeting with the state Police Command’s strategic and operational officers to reassess intelligence and information from members of the public, particularly within Awka, and strengthen security operations against violent crime.
The Police chief later paid a condolence visit to Nwosu’s family, describing the deceased as an asset to the state who would be greatly missed by his family and the people.
Ama said the Command would particularly miss Nwosu’s contributions to its security advocacy efforts and other duties, adding that he had directed relevant operational and investigative units to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
He assured the family and residents of Anambra that the Command would pursue the investigation with determination, urging residents to have confidence in the Police and the investigation into the incident.
Three yet to be identified assassins, suspected to be cultists, killed the popular public announcer and broadcaster/radio guest artiste, comedian while driving along S.M. Okeke Street in Amaikwo area of Awka, the state capital.
Two other victims were shot at separate locations along Capital City Road, Amaenyi area in Awka, point-blank and in gangster style.
Eyewitnesses believed the killers were cultists, with one of them saying: “The assailants, numbering about three and driving in a tinted vehicle, trailed the comedian from his home, double-crossed his vehicle and before attacking and shooting him dead. They left the victim in a pool of blood inside his car.
“As they drove some distance away, they also shot another victim dead by the roadside, dispossessed him of his belongings and fled.
“The assailants fired some shots into the air before leaving the scene in a commando-like manner, thereby creating tension in the area.
“After they left, the security operatives arrived at the scene and recovered the lifeless bodies of the victims. They later beefed up security around the areas following the incident.”
Some videos circulating online showed bodies of the victims lying in pool of blood at different locations as onlookers gathered at the scenes.
He reportedly died inside his vehicle after being shot, while music continued to blare from the sound system. His truck was said to have ended up in a ditch, suggesting that he may have been caught off guard.
Nwosu was well known in Awka for driving around the city, making announcements and entertaining residents with music through the loudspeakers fitted to his vehicle.
