‘He’s On Colos, Feeds On Cocaine,’ Questions Bello’s Loyalty To Family
ONE of the sons of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, Bashir, has criticised his elder brother, Mohammed Bello, over sundry issues, including loyalty to the family and alleged drug use.
Bashir, on Saturday, August 29, in a series of posts on X, attacked Bello over his recent political moves, accusing him of abandoning the family and aligning with his father’s successor and estranged political godson, Governor Uba Sani, his .
Sani, a former ally, fell out with el-Rufai shortly after winning the 2023 governorship election.
Despite his father’s resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in March last year, Bello, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency, remained in the ruling party, but eventually dumped the party on May 7 to join his father in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
However, Bashir alleged that Bello remained loyal to Sani until he realised he was being “dumped” after which he began talking about family loyalty.
He wrote: “Stuck with Uba Sani until he realised he is being dumped, then suddenly remembered family loyalty and moved to ADC.
“Where was he since? Purely serving his interest.”
He accused Bello, a member of the House of Representatives, of being neutral while others criticised Sani, alleging that Bello asked him to “pipe down my criticism of his former boss.”
He wrote: “I have a useless excuse for a brother, with his bony-ass face coated with an unknown white substance around his nostrils every night. “That is your member in the House, representing a whole populace, but prefers alcohol and cocaine. Yes, you.”
One reaction to the post, @cryptogeekng, wrote: “If you are referring to your blood brother, you must be the one on Colos.
“Settle out of court and social media.”
Bashir, however, dismissed the comment and insisted that his brother was the one abusing drugs, adding: “He’s the one on Colos, actually, and a diet of cocaine and whiskey.
“At this stage in my life, I hate nonsense,” he added, calling his brother a hypocrite, and making several other allegations against his brother in the posts, bordering on fertility status and unsubstantiated drug use, some of which had been deleted.
Their father has been in detention since February this year over alleged financial impropriety during his tenure as governor between 2015 and 2023.
He was arraigned on April 13 at the Kaduna State High Court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) on an amended nine-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office.
The Department of State Services (DSS) is also prosecuting the former governor before a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of wiretapping.
