THE Delta State Government Delta State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Izeze Reuben, pending the outcome of an investigation into his direct or indirect link to the fracas during the All Progressives Congress (APC) meeting fracas in Effurun, Uvwie Local Council.

During the incident, the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple, was attacked and beaten, sustaining injuries in the process, as was posted online, at the parry’s political gathering at Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun venue of the meeting over alleged disagreement.

    The government, in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Kingsley Emu, on Monday, August 10, stressed that the suspension would allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into allegations linking Izeze to the incident without interference and to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

It stated that the state government remained committed to ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order and protecting the sanctity of human lives, which it said applies in all circumstances, including situations involving institutions and officials of the state, adding: “This position is upheld even when institutions of state are involved.”

    The action came shortly after a state High Court in Effurun reportedly ordered Izeze’s remand in custody over the incident.
