Fire: FMBN Assures Customers’ Documents Safe, Intact

THE Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has assured stakeholders, customers and the public of the safety of documents in its possession, despite the fire incident that occurred on the second floor of its head office in Abuja on Saturday night, August 1. 

    The bank, in a statement by its Group Head Corporate Communications, Joe Abuku, said “though damages have been done to furniture, equipment and appliances in the affected areas, we are grateful to report that official documents that were affected are securely backed up electronically.”

    Abuku said that the fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading to other parts of the building, adding: “We continue to express our profound appreciation to the fire service, Police, members of staff and all whose cooperation and timely response helped to quench the fire situation.” 

    He explained that thorough investigations and evaluations to establish the cause of the fire were ongoing, while appropriate business continuity and mitigation measures were in place to ensure minimal disruption to service delivery.

     The bank assured all stakeholders, customers and the general public that the incident has not compromised its operations, the office remained open for normal business activities, saying it would provide further updates as new information comes to light.
