AS Governor Sheriff Oborevwori marks his 63rd birth anniversary on June 19, 2026, Deltans have every reason to celebrate a leader whose public service journey has been defined by humility, resilience, inclusiveness and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
For over three decades in public life, and particularly in the last three years as Governor of Delta State, Oborevwori has demonstrated that leadership is not merely about occupying office, but about inspiring confidence, building consensus and delivering tangible results that improve the lives of citizens.
His rise from grassroots politics to the highest office in the state is a testament to perseverance, dedication and an uncommon understanding of the aspirations of ordinary people. It is a journey that reflects the enduring values of hard work, loyalty and service that have become synonymous with his name.
At 63, Oborevwori stands as one of the most experienced and influential political leaders in contemporary Delta State. His leadership style is anchored on consultation, inclusiveness and a deep appreciation of the diversity that defines the state, qualities that have enabled him to build bridges across political, ethnic and social divides, while fostering a culture of peace and cooperation.
,Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, he has approached governance with a clear vision encapsulated in the MORE (Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security) Agenda.
More importantly, he has translated this vision into action through policies and programmes that have touched communities across the state.
His administration has pursued development with a strong sense of purpose, ensuring that progress is not concentrated in a few urban centres, but extended to rural and riverine communities. Across Delta State, roads, bridges, schools, healthcare facilities, water projects and public institutions bear testimony to a government committed to improving the quality of life of its people.
Beyond physical infrastructure, Oborevwori has distinguished himself through his investment in human capital development. Through educational support programmes, healthcare interventions, social welfare initiatives, youth empowerment schemes and economic support programmes for small businesses and vulnerable groups, his administration has sought to create opportunities for citizens to achieve their full potential.
One of the defining features of his leadership has been his emphasis on peace, unity and security. In a period marked by economic and social challenges across the nation, Delta State has continued to enjoy relative stability through sustained collaboration with security agencies, community leaders and other critical stakeholders.
His commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes has further strengthened harmony among the various ethnic nationalities that make up the state.
Oborevwori’s statesmanship is also reflected in his prudent management of public resources. Through fiscal discipline, strategic planning and responsible governance, the state has continued to execute major developmental projects, while maintaining financial stability.
This approach has reinforced public confidence and positioned Delta State as one of the leading sub-national governments in Nigeria.
Perhaps one of his greatest strengths is his accessibility and connection with the people. Despite the demands of high office, he remains closely attuned to the needs and aspirations of Deltans. His ability to listen, engage and respond to concerns has earned him admiration across different segments of society.
As he celebrates this milestone age of 63, Oborevwori’s life offers valuable lessons in leadership, perseverance and public service. His journey reminds us that true leadership is measured not by titles held, but by lives touched, communities transformed and opportunities created for future generations.
Today, Deltans celebrate not only the birthday of a governor, but also the enduring legacy of a statesman whose vision, humility and commitment to service continue to shape the progress of Delta State.
On behalf of the management and staff of the Ministry of Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, I congratulate His Excellency on his 63rd birth anniversary and wish him continued good health, wisdom, strength and greater accomplishments in the service of our dear state and nation.
