Bandits Attack, Abduct Seven Fed Poly Students In Zamfara

SEVEN students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State were attacked and abducted by suspected bandits at their off-campus residence in the Low-Cost area of the town.
According to the Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Council, Mannir Haidara Kaura: “The incident occurred and security operatives are currently carrying out rescue operations to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped students.”
A student, Ibrahim Ahmad, said one victim had earlier escaped, leaving three males and three females in captivity.
A local group, Concerned Citizens of Kaura Namoda, blamed repeated attacks by bandits, led by Kachalla Bello Dansadiya, citing past abductions, including two lecturers held for over two months despite ransom payment, as well as kidnapping of residents and a district head near a military base.
In a related development, gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Tuesday night, June 2, attacked the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and made away with firearms from officers on duty.
The incident was reported to have occurred around 10p.m. at the facility located along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Motorway, near the NNPC filling station.
It was gathered that the attacked stormed the office while commercial activities were still going on at the nearby Ayanyan Cattle Market, and the officers on duty were overpowered and dispossessed of their weapons during the operation.
The exact number of firearms carted away by the attackers could not be immediately ascertained.
The attackers were reported to have immediately
fled the area under the cover of darkness.
