Atiku Visits Amaechi After Winning ADC Presidential Primary

Published:

FORMER vice president, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, May 28, visited former Rivers State governor and his opponent in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary, Rotimi Amaechi, at his Abuja residence, accompanied by former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, former ADC national chairman Ralph Nwosu, and other party leaders.
After the results were announced, and following negative reactions, Atiku appealled to “all those who feel aggrieved to come back to the party and close ranks with the rest of us.”
He added: “In particular, I invite Rotimi Amaechi and Muhammad Hayatu-Deen to join me in this fight to save our democracy and our country.
“As I said previously, there are no winners and no losers. Our people look up to us for leadership, and I am ready to lead.
“I shall work with you all to continue to build our party. I will campaign with you and, if Nigeria’s leaders demand it, govern with you to build a country that works for all of us.”
Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen have reportedly rejected the results of the primary, alleging irregularities in the voting process.
Details of the closed-door meeting remain speculatibve, as both were yet to issue any statement at press time.
